Student Reception March 13

A Piece of Work, Inc. is proud to present the work of area art students from Jackson County Central High School in the March installation of our “Classroom to the Gallery Project”.
Some kids work on the wheel, others work in graphite, others in painting. Galen McCarthy (the art teacher at JCC) really encourages his students to work in a grid method, rather than using a projector. Also he pushes for his students to use underglazing with a clear top glaze which allows for more expression and freedom when working with ceramics. They work in both wheel-thrown and slab built, pinch pots. The students showing work will be a mixture of ages from within the high school.
Through the “Classroom to the Gallery Project”, A Piece of Work, Inc. provides area high school art students the opportunity to exhibit and sell their creations in an open gallery, which currently showcases the work of professional area artisans.  Special activities will also provide an environment for the young artists to network with and receive tips and suggestions from the more seasoned artists.
Featured is the work of Caitlyn Mead, Tyler Asa, Nate Hotzler, Briana Murdock, Spencer Vacura, Colton Ward, Brea Olson, Casey Erickson, Courtney Henning, Jaci Runksmeier, Ashley Haskin, Maria Nelson, Cale Pell and Jet.  Their work will be available for viewing through the entire calendar month of February.  The opening reception for these talented young artists will be held at the gallery, located at 1619 Hill Ave, Spirit Lake, on Saturday, March 13th from 3-5 pm.  Light refreshments will be served.

For more information call (712) 336-1077.  Gallery hours are 10:00am-5:00pm Tuesday through Saturday.
