Estherville, IA (KICD)--A traffic stop led to officials filing drug charges against a Fenton man last Wednesday.
Emmet County Sheriff Mike Martens says deputies stopped 24 year old Cory Cheever for not wearing a seat belt. A search of Cheever's car allgedly turned up what authorities think is marijuana.
He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, failure to stop at a stop sign, operation of an unregistered vehicle, no insurance, fraudulent use of registration and failure to use seat belts. He was jailed and later released on an unsecured bond.
The traffic stop was two days after a search of his home in Fenton by Emmet and Kossuth county sheriff's officers. That, authorities allege, turned up marijuana. He was chargged with possession of a controlled substance --and arrested on an outstanding warrant from Emmet county for possessing a controlled substance. He was booked into the Emmet county jail and later released on his own recognizance.
