Rock Valley Blizzard Death
ROCK VALLEY, Iowa (AP) __ An 81-year-old northwest Iowa man has
died after his pickup truck became stuck in a snowbank.
The Sioux County sheriff's office says a neighbor found the body
of William Rielly on Christmas Day in a ditch near a fence line
outside Rock Valley, about 30 miles southeast of Sioux Falls, S.D.
The sheriff's office says Rielly apparently drove from his home
on Christmas Eve, then traveled a half mile before getting stuck.
He tried to free the pickup so long that a rear tire was worn down
to the rim.
Rielly then left the pickup and walked a quarter mile toward his
home, where his body was found.
A neighbor noticed the truck, then checked his home where he
lived alone. He finally found the body and called authorities, who
had to have a snowplow clear the way to reach the area.
