New Milford City Adminstrator

Milford, IA (KICD)--The city of Milford has hired a new City Administrator.

Mayor Virgil Wahlman tells KICD News that the city council approved the hiring of Matt Skaret Wednesday night by unanimous vote. Skaret comes Madison, Minnesota which is known as "Lutefisk Capital U.S.A."

Wahlman says "We had 49 applicants and we narrowed it down to five. The amazing thing was the top five came out the same from all of us."

Wahlman says Skaret just seemed to be the right fit noting "He has been successful in what he is doing in Madison, he has a good record of grants, and has an open door policy. Before he answered our questions he would sit and think for a few seconds before he answered."

Skaret has only been a city manager for three years but has served under multiple Senators in the Capitol and holds a Masters Degree from the University of South Dakota in public administration.

KICD News will have comments from Skaret in the 5:00 News. He takes over for Bryan Read who announced in October that he was leaving the post to become city manager in Brandon, South Dakota. Skaret is slated to start on the job on January 18th.
