Clay County Accident

Dickens, IA (KICD)--Alcohol appears to have been a factor in an early Tuesday morning accident that sends four to the hospital.

Clay County Chief Deputy Brad Hawley says they were notified of the mishap at 1:30 a.m. and were called to the 3400 mile of 315th Avenue in eastern Clay County where a white 2002 Chevy Avalanche was found in the east ditch. 21-year-old Tyler Kronemann of Ruthven was heading north on 315th in the Avalanche when he became distracted. He drove the truck north into the ditch, striking and crossing a driveway before coming to rest.

Kronemann and 21-year-old Adam WIlliamson of Ruthven were taken to Spencer Hospital. 23-year-old Billy Sundall of Ruthven and 21-year-old Jessica Long of Emmetsburg were taken to the Palo Alto County Hospital. All were treated and released with a fourth passenger, the only to be wearing a seatbelt and not consuming an alcoholic beverage, not injured. Charges are pending against the four who were injured depending on Division of Criminal Investigation lab results.

Dickens Fire and Rescue, Emmetsburg and Ruthven Ambulance Services, Ruthven Fire and Rescue and Spencer Municipal Hospital assisted on scene.
