Sioux Center Fatal

Sioux Center, IA (KICD)--The body of a Sioux Center man was found Monday night at a camping and fishing area two miles east of Sioux Center.

The son of the 78-year man called the Sioux County Sheriff's office around 6:30 p.m. to say his father had gone fishing at Sandy Hollow at 12:30 Monday afternoon. A search team found the body of 78-year-old Peter Schouten in about four feet of water in the northwest pond at Sandy Hollow shortly before 8 o'clock last night. The man, whose identity has not been released, was taken to the Sioux Center Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Authorities say foul play is not suspected at this time.

Those assisting in the investigation include the Iowa State Patrol, Sioux and Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office Canine teams; members of the Sioux Center Fire Department, Sioux Center Ambulance, Sioux County Emergency Management and Sioux County Dive Team.
