Dream Center Official

Spencer, IA (KICD)--It's official. The Spencer Dream Center is now a go as the historic Hotel in downtown Spencer is now in the possession of the Dayspring Assembly of God Church.

Pastor Kevin Grimes tells KICD News "last Friday I met with the owners of the building and they signed the corporation over to the church. Our plan is to eventually reincorporate as a separate non-profit 501 C-3 corporation separate from the church. For now it will under the church's non-profit status."

The owner of KES Properties LLC reportedly had an offer on the building last week but kept their word on the deal. The title is in hand, but the $80,000 fundraising goal still has to be met. Grimes says "the owner's said we know you are good for the money, we have paid about $11,000 of that but still need to raise the rest."

Grimes says the rooms on floors 2-5 look like housekeeping was in just this morning except for the dust "there are some roof issues on two spots of the roof with a column of rooms below having water damage." The rest of the areas can be cleaned with a "little hand grease."

They are currently in the process of coming up with a business plan detailing what each floor will be used for including a youth center in the basement, counseling services, disaster relief organizations , clothing distribution, and even an indoor skate park.
