Area Arrest Reports



Spencer, IA (KICD)--A Peterson man is jailed after falsely claiming to have been robbed at gunpoint.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office says that 38-year-old Tommy Hartfield called 911 in the six a.m. hour of September 17th. He said he was robbed at gunpoint after helping a woman standing beside a car at 470th Street and M-27. Hartfield told authorities that while talking to the woman a man got out of the car, got behind Hartfield, and placed a gun at his back. He said they took $280 in cash and left.

With assistance from Crime Scene and Statement Analysis Inc. of South Sioux City, Nebraska a confession was secured from Hartfield. He said he made the false report for personal reasons. Hartfield was then placed in the Clay County jail on a charge of filing a false police report.

Sheriff Randy Krukow says his office invested over 40 man hours in this case and says they will seek restitution from the Court against Hartfield.

The O'Brien County Sheriff's Office and Clay County Attorney's Office assisted.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--A burglary investigation that lasted over a year finally leads to the arrest of an Alta man.

On August 3rd of 2008 a report was made by the owners of Tienda Morelos to Storm Lake Police of the break in. Approximately $15,000 worth of beer, tobacco products, and jewelry was taken.

On Wednesday 18-year-old Shaun Arispe was charged with 3rd degree burglary - a class D felony. He was already being held in the Buena Vista County jail on unrelated charges. Bond was set at $55,000.

Investigation is ongoing.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--A Storm Lake teen is arrested on a terror charge.

Storm lake Police received word from the Palo Alto County Sheriff's Office of 14-year-old Dallas Dirks obtaining access to a family members Facebook Page. Dirks allegedly sent comments that he was going to kill some teachers. The threat was reported to school officials in Graettinger who sent the report to authorities.

A class D felony charge of Terroristic Threats was levied against Dirks. He was processed and released to a parent with a court date pending.

Orange City, IA (KICD)--A Hawarden man is jailed on identity theft related charges by the Sioux County Sheriff's Office.

Jose Enrique Ibarra-Fregoso was arrested last week following and early October drug investigation. During the investigation it was found that Ibarra-Fregoso had gained employment at HSG in Hawarden by providing false documents not belonging to him.

Ibarra-Fregoso was booked into Sioux County jail on class D felony charges of identity theft and forgery as well as tampering with records.
