Theft Sentencing

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--A Storm Lake man lands a five year prison term after pleading guilty to firearm, theft, and drug charges.

41-year-old Robert Martin was found at a Storm Lake Motel by Police during an investigation into an illegally tendered check at the Central Bank for $6,100. A handgun was found at which time the room was secured and a search warrant was obtained. A .22 caliber handgun, small amount of marijuana ,and crack pipes were located and seized.

Martin recently pled guilty in Buena Vista County District Court to a class D felony charge of 2nd degree theft in relation to the forged check. Judge David Lester sentenced Martin to five years in prison with credit for 93 days already served. A $750 fine was suspended.

Charges of possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of marijuana 3rd offense were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
