Paullina Housefire

Paullina, IA (KICD)--A four alarm fire in Paullina sent one person to a hospital early Wednesday morning.

Deputy State Fire Marshal David Schipper says Paullina firefighters were called out at 1:05 to a home at 207 South Main Street. The house is owned -- and occupied -- by the Robert Rus family. They were home at the time of the blaze. Officials say one female family member was taken to a Sioux City hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. No one else was hurt.

Flames were showing the the back east side of the house when Paullina's department rolled up.

Fire Departments from Primghar and Granville were called for help and Sheldon brought its aerial ladder truck to help battle the blaze.

Schipper says the fire has been ruled accidental and the most probable cause was an electrical wiring problem.

The house is considered a total loss and damage could run as high as 200 thousand dollars.

Smoke detectors in the home had activated. Firefighters were able to save the family dog.
