Alton, IA (KICD)--A Spencer woman is injured after hitting a deer.
The Sioux County Sheriff's Office says 33-year-old Christine Jarman was heading south on Highway 60, about 4 miles south of Alton, when a deer ran out into the roadway. She struck the deer with a 1994 Plymouth Grand Voyager.
Jarman was taken by Alton Ambulance to the Orange City Hospital.
Alton Fire and rescue assisted on scene of the accident which occurred shortly after midnight today (Monday).
Sioux Center, IA (KICD)--A Hawarden woman is sent to the hospital after a Wednesday morning accident in Sioux County.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened a half mile west of K-18 on B-46 at 9:25 a.m. when 31-year-old Todd Dejong of Sioux Center was traveling in the eastbound lane of B-46 while going up a hill. 21-year-old Kristyana Allen of Hawarden was heading east on B-46 and went into the westbound lane to try to avoid hitting Dejong's tractor trailer. Both vehicles hit each other in the passenger side with Dejong coming to rest on the roadway and Allen's 2002 Ford Focus coming to rest facing west in the north ditch.
Allen suffered what are described as non-incapacitating injuries. She was not taken to hospital.
Allen's car damage estimate came to $3,000 with $500 of damage done to Dejong's vehicle .
Emmestburg, IA (KICD)--A Milford man faces drug charges following a traffic stop by the Palo Alto County Sheriff's Office on Saturday.
31-year-old Daniel Jones has been charged with possession of both a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia as well as failure to stop at a stop sign. Additional charges could come down the line after results come back from the DCI Crime Lab.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--A Storm Lake teen is jailed after allegedly assaulting her grandma.
Police were called out to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center Emergency Room Sunday night. The 62-year-old woman alleges that her granddauughter, 16-year-old Ashley Danielson, physically assaulted her after she told the girl to stop using the computer at the grandmother's home. The grandmother sustained a fracture to her arm.
Danielson was subsequently arrested on a class D felony charge of assault causing serious injury. She was taken to the Youth Detention Facility in Cherokee and has a court date pending.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--A woman is caught hiding in an apartment by Storm Lake Police Sunday afternoon.
Rachel Hopkins of Schleswig was found hiding at 220 East 5th Street Apartment #3. The hiding was done in connection to an earlier report of an intoxicated female from the apartment complex.
Hopkins was booked into the Buena Vista County jail on charges of criminal trespassing and public intoxication 3rd offense. Bond was set at $2,300 cash.
