Cherokee, IA (KICD)--Three are injured in a six car accident in Cherokee Monday.
Cherokee Police says the mishap occurred shortly after 5:00 p.m. at the intersection of Bluff and 2nd Street hen 32-year-old Ryan Halverson of Cherokee rear ended 23-year-old Brittany Simons of Meriden who was stopped at the redlight. Halverson was distracted by his 2-year-old son and looked back. Simons car was pushed into a third vehicle then Simons was pushed through the intersection and up onto the curb on the southwest corner of the intersection over the curb and sidewalk and into the parking lot.
Halverson then traveled through the intersection, rode the right curb and struck a pole. He proceeded onto the sidewalk and into a fourth car, which pushed into a 5th car, which was turned and struck by a sixth vehicle which was also hit by Halverson.
Halverson, his son, and Simons were all taken to the Cherokee Regional Medical Center. Halverson was cited for following too close.
Cherokee Ambulance, Fire, and the Cherokee Count Sheriff's Office assisted on scene.
Tuesday morning accident in Jackson County.
The Minnesota State Patrol says 65-year-old Larry Tressel of Waterford was heading west on I-90 east of Alpha in a 2008 Ford Pickup. He went off road into the median, hit a crossover, crossed the eastbound lanes, entered the south ditch, went through a fence and into a field.
Tressel and a 25 -year-old by the same name were taken to Jackson Hospital with back pain and bruising. Both were then taken to Sioux Falls for evaluation.
Jackson and Alpha Fire and Rescue and Jackson Ambulance helped on scene of the accident that occurred at 1:18 this (Tuesday) morning.
