The Plymouth County Sheriffs Office reported the accident occurred just after noon Tuesday, at the intersection of Highway 140 and C-60, near Kingsley. 68-year old John Jongma of Hawarden was driving a 2006 Mack, pulling a grain trailer, westbound on C60 and failed to stop for the stop sign with Hwy 140.
45-year old Mark Bremer was northbound on Highway 140 in a 1993 Ford F350. As Jongma entered the intersection, Bremer was unable to stop, colliding with the rear wheels of the trailer. Bremer and a passenger in the Ford, 83-year old Donald Bremer were transported to Floyd Valley Hospital in LeMars by the Kingsley Ambulance for possible injuries.
Jongma didnt realize there was an accident, until reaching his destination, at which time he called the Sheriffs Office. Jongma has been cited into court for fail to obey a stop sign and leaving the scene of an injury accident.
The pickup was totalled in the accident and the trailer received functional damage.
