Spencer Police Chief Mark Lawson says law enforcement officials across the nation will have a keen eye out for impaired drivers, seatbelt violations, and child restraint compliance.
The going rate for a seatbelt violation is currently $127.50 with the costs associated with an OWI ranging from $2,500 on up.
During the sTEP wave conducted over Saint Patrick’s weekend last year, there were 16,279 traffic violations reported by 234 law enforcement agencies that had more than 1,600 officers working the enforcement event.
