Justin Bieber escapes fine over concert delay

Justin Bieber has avoided a fine from local authorities over his late-running London show on Monday night.

The "Baby" hitmaker issued an apology after he delayed the start of his gig at the O2 Arena and infuriated parents, many of whom had to take their young children home before the star appeared on stage.

Subsequent reports suggested Bieber had landed a massive $480,000 fine from officials at the local Greenwich Council for breaking their rules governing performances at the venue, but authorities have now revealed the star is not facing a financial penalty.

A statement from Greenwich Council reads, "Contrary to the report, The Royal Borough of Greenwich has not taken any action against the owners of the O2 Arena in relation to Justin Bieber's recent performance, as no breach of our licensing conditions took place... There is no requirement for performances to finish by 11pm... We take any complaints made in relation to the venue very seriously, but it is an urban myth to suggest that we have ever levied a fine in relation to a performance there."

The 19-year-old singer has blamed the delay on "technical issues."
