RA-GT Partial Day Sharing Partners

Ruthven, IA (KICD)--Following an emotional meeting Friday night the Ruthven-Ayrshire School Board has approved moving forward with a partial day sharing agreement with the Graettinger-Terril School District

A crowd of around 50 concerned citizens attended Friday night's special meeting as the board decided between moving forward with Graettinger-Terril or Emmetsburg as a partial day sharing partner.  Prior to making their decision the board was presented with a petition from students and heard support from the crowd in favor of moving forward with Graettinger-Terril.  Board President Barry Fischer shared his emotion ahead of the board vote.

A 5-2 split vote then passed with Ray Grandstaff and Larry Conlon voting against.

Ruthven-Ayrshire Superintendent Andrew Woiwood tells KICD News that the already established partnership with Graettinger-Terril was a key factor in the decision,

Under the agreement Ruthven-Ayrshire students will stay in Ruthven for core classes in the morning before heading to Graettinger-Terril in the afternoon to take mainly elective courses.

Graettinger Terril Superintendent Jesse Ulrich says this move will allow them to increase their course offerings.

The partial day sharing agreement is for 2 years with an option for a 3rd year.
