Sheldon, IA (KICD)--Sheldon School District Patrons have decidedly voted in favor of approximately $5.6 million in upgrades to the East Elementary school.
Turnout for the vote came in at 26.1 percent with over 70 percent in favor of three separate measures in connection to the project which will be funded in the most part by a 13-year PPEL levy of $1.34 per $1,000 of valuation.
Highlights of the proposed project include eight new classrooms, expansion of the media center, and a much needed multi-purpose room upgrade.
School Board President Gary Ihnen tells KICD News they would hope to buy down the levy and property tax rates when anticipated additional sales tax monies come into the district.
