Spencer, IA (KICD)--The Spencer City Council meets tonight in regular session.
The purchase of a 2nd Automated Solid Waste Truck and new solid waste and recycling containers is up for approval. The 2013 Peterbilt / New Way Sidewinder up for discussion came in approximately $30,000 under budget at just under $220,000 from Elliott Equipment out of Grimes, Iowa. The new containers came in over $100,000 under budget at a cost of $388,436 which includes assembly and delivery. Mid-Iowa Solid Waste will deliver 4,100 64-gallon containers for the solid waste and 4,100 95-gallon containers for the recycling.
The city is set to take action on the West Beltway, West 18th Street and West 4th Street projects. The projects are being done in conjunction with Clay County and came in at a cost of over $5.237 million, which was approximately $590,000 under the Engineers Estimate. Clay County has taken the lead on these projects and now the city needs to approve a motion to concur with their portion of the project.The low bidder on the contract was Allied Manatts Group, LLC who is out of Charles City, Iowa.
Bids will be opened for the 2013 Deerfield 4th Addition PCC Paving Project. After the opening of the bids, the Council will have the option of awarding or tabling the bid depending on how the bids come in.A motion is on the docket to schedule a committee meeting to review proposals received for the purchase & occupancy of the Freeman Building.
Lastly the council will be asked to authorize staff to negotiate an Architects Agreement with Cannon/Moss/Brygger for the Riverfront Development Project.
