Milford Icy Wreck

Milford, IA (KICD) -- Icy conditions lead to a two vehilce accident south of Milford.

The Dickinson County Sheriffs Office says the accident happened around 7:50 Sunday morning, on Highway 71, just south of Milford.

A 2003 Nissan driven by Kaylee Durst of Okoboji, was parked on the southbound shoulder, when she was struck by a southbound semitractor trailer hauling turkeys, driven by Alexander Cruz, of Storm Lake, who lost control of the semi due to the icy conditions.
The Nissan then spun into the ditch, as a result of the collision.  Durst was taken to Lakes Regional Healthcare, by a friend, while Cruz was transported by ambulance.
As a result of the crash, the highway was shut down, while the semi was being uprighted, and turkeys on the loose were being collected.  The semi received approximately $20,000 in damage, while the Nissan had about $7000 in damages.  Because of the extremely icy conditions, there were no citations issued.
Assisting at the scene was the Milford  Police,  Milford Fire and Rescue and the Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance and paramedics.
