The Sioux City Journal notes that roughly 10 percent of the company's local workers will be affected by the move of approximately 36 jobs to Kansas City, Kansas. Pure Fishing's parent Company, Jarden Corporation, has a distribution center in Kansas City.
The move is expected to be completed in the 2nd half of 2013.
Berkley Bedell started up Pure Fishing, known then as the Berkley Fly Company as a 16-year-old in 1937. Bedell started up Berkley and Company in Spirit Lake in 1945. In April of 2007 Pure Fishing was acquired by Jarden Company's subsidiary, The Coleman Company.
