The Clay County Sheriffs Office said the accident occurred at 10:36 Wednesday morning, on 110th Avenue and Hwy 18, in front of a residence. 66-year old Lamont Wegner was driving a 2000 Ford Ranger, when he hit a patch of ice on the road, causing him to lose control of the pickup.
Wegner then entered the north ditch, striking and damaging an electrical pole, owned by Iowa Lakes Electric Company. Iowa Lakes was called and replaced the pole. The vehicle also damaged some landscaping, including small trees and bushes, totalling $200. .
Wegner's pickup was totalled in the mishap, and there were no injuries to Wegner.
