Dave Grohl's supergroup adds second show

Dave Grohl's new rock supergroup has lined up a second date in Los Angeles after its debut show at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah sold out in minutes.

The Sound City Players, which features Stevie Nicks, John Fogerty, Rick Nielsen and Grohl's Foo Fighters and Nirvana bandmates, will hit the stage at the Park City festival later this month to commemorate the official launch of the rocker's documentary debut Sound City - about the fabled California studio they all recorded at.

All tickets for that gig went fast and so Grohl and his all-star friends have added a second show at the Hollywood Palladium on 31 January to coincide with the theatrical debut of the film at the nearby Cinerama Dome.

Grohl's band also features Rick Springfield, former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, Lee Ving and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club stars Robert Levon Been and Peter Hayes.
