Storm Lake Police were called to an apartment shortly after 3:00 p.m. and were advised that a participant in the fight may be armed with a knife. Upon arrival of police they heard shouting inside of the apartment at which time police breached the door and encountered several people in the apartment. Police took control of all five occupants and then learned from witnesses that two women had allegedly engaged in an argument in the home.
It is alleged that 44-year-old Everlina Johnson-Smith reportedly pushed open a door which caused a television to fall on 21-year-old Mariah Thompson-Ewing causing an injury to Ewing's leg. Ewing then reportedly retaliated by striking Smith in her face and arm. Both women sustained minor injuries in the fight.
Police arrested both women at the scene. They charged Smith with a class D felony count of Domestic Assault Causing Injury 3rd Offense. Ewing was charged with Domestic Assault Causing Injury. Both women were booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and held without bond.
No knife was recovered or used in the altercation based on witnesses at the scene.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--A late Monday morning scuffle report ends with an arrest by Storm Lake Police.
Upon arrival at the home Police met with the occupants who said that the father of a child living at the residence was at the residence visiting the child when his wife (not the mother), 19-year-old Isabel Rodriguez De Ramirez of Storm Lake, arrived at the residence and allegedly pushed her way into the residence and physically assaulted another woman in the home. She also allegedly broke a window at the residence. Rodriguez De Ramirez then fled from the scene.
Rodriguez De Ramirez was later located and charged with a class C felony count of 2nd degree burglary, domestic assault and criminal mischief. She was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and held without bond.
