Even though St Patricks Day is over two months away, It's not too early to be thinking about the Wearin' O' the Green. As part of the celebration, in Emmetsburg, the Miss Shamrock competition will once again be held and applicants are now being accepted.

The competition is open to all young women currently in their junior or senior year of high school. In past years they have looked for contestants from nearby counties, but this year De Keyser says they have opened it up to juniors and senior girls from anywhere in the state of Iowa...
Miss Shamrock receives a cash award of $500, with the First runner-up receiving $250, and the Second runner-up receives $125.
The judging for Miss Shamrock is based on a private, personal interview with each contestant, as well as a performance of a three minute talent selection on stage, formal wear presentation stage presentation and an on-stage question. An informational meeting for contestants is planned for Saturday, Jan 19 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce. 1121 Broadway, in Emmetsburg.
