Spencer 2012 Construction Spike

Spencer, IA (KICD)--The city of Spencer saw a spike in construction in 2012.

City Planning Department Director Kirby Schmidt gave a quick overview during his report at Monday night's council meeting.

The $11.8 million increase in construction activity over 2011 can be attributed to a number of factors including the launch of the Quality Housing Initiative where up to $15,000 in grant funding is available to anyone who builds a home in Spencer in the $110,000-$180,000 price range.
