IHSMA Jazz Festival



 Spirit Lake, IA (KICD) -- Thirteen high schools, including 11 from the broadcast area will be performing at a jazz festival.

  Spirit Lake High School will be hosting the Iowa High School Music Association State Jazz Band Festival Saturday, January 12th from 9-am to 3-pm, at the Sami Bedell Center for the Performing Arts.

  A highlight for the piano players is that they will perform on the only signed Elton John red concert grand piano located in a public facility.

  Local high school jazz bands to perform include Harris-Lake Park, directed by Jeremy Britton at 9-am, Graettinger-Terril, directed by Tyler Pedersen, at 9:25.  Boyden-Hull, directed by Virginia Eulberg will perform at 9:50, followed by Newell-Fonda, directed by Colleen Hecht at 10:15.

  Marcus Meriden Cleghorn, directed by David Moore performs at 10:50, followed by Remsen St Mary's directed by Anna Davis at 11:15. am, Kingsley-Pierson, directed by Jonathan Cole at 11:40.

   The afternoon performances include LeMars, directed by Curt Ohrland at 1-pm, Storm Lake, directed by Jason Heeren at 1:50.  Estherville,-Lincoln Central, directed by Laura Giebler performs at 2:15, and Spirit Lake, directed by Jody Ingwersen performs at 2:40.
