The Clay County Sheriffs Office says the accident occurred around 8:41 Monday morning, at 1625 Highway 18. 59-year old Marina McNeill was travelling westbound on Hwy 18, when she lost control of her 2003 Dodge Neon.
The vehicle left the roadway, travelling 183 feet before hitting a tree head on, and coming to a complete stop. McNeill complained of neck and back pain, and sustained a laceration to the right knee. She was transported to Spencer Municipal Hospital and then life flighted out.
The Neon was totalled in the accident.
