ASA Wants Members To Lobby Congress On Farm Bill

Spencer, IA: (Dec 26, 2012) - The American Soybean Association (ASA) is urging its members to contact their House Member and ask them to encourage House leadership to include a new five-year farm bill in any agreement on the “fiscal cliff.”

A memo from the ASA’s Soy Action Center says a new farm bill would provide needed certainty to agricultural producers that a short term extension of the current farm bill won’t provide.
The soy producers’ group is also concerned that, in absence of a new farm bill, spending cuts in agriculture will be even larger than the $23 to $35 billion offered in the Senate and House farm bill proposals.
