Downtown Sheldon Project



Sheldon, IA (KICD)--The city of Sheldon has approved an engineering contract to move forward with a $1.5 million downtown infrastructure project.

City Manager Scott Wynjia (Ween-Yuh) tells KICD News that the project will focus on streets, curbs, gutters, water, and sewer work.

Wynjia says instead of the typical 6-inch curb height, there are some areas in downtown Sheldon that range up to 18 inches tall.

The project also includes new downtown street lights. Work is expected to start up sometime in the Spring and be wrapped in the 2013 construction season. The project will be paid for through urban renewal funds and tax increment financing.
