King Defends Defiant House Collegue

Spencer, IA: (Dec. 07, 2012) - In Washington, The House Republican Steering Committee has selected seven new members for the House Agriculture Committee, most from fruit & veggie-growing regions of the country.

In the process, Kansas lost its only Representative on the Ag Committee, after Republican Tim Huelskamp was removed, reportedly for being uncooperative with Leadership. Huelskamp also lost his assignment on the Budget Committee.

Three other Tea Party Republicans also lost committee assignments as Speaker John Boehner moves to bring rebellious members of his caucus in line.

Huelskamp called the move “vindictive” and said it is “a sure sign that the G-O-P establishment cannot handle disagreement.”

In an interview with KICD on Friday, Iowa Republican Representative Steve King said he agrees with his friend and collegue.

Kansas is now without a representative on Agriculture for the first time since the state joined the Union.

Huelskamp riled the Leadership of his party when he served in the Kansas Legislature and was booted off the Ways & Means Committee for not working with Leadership.
