The $17.5 million upgrade consists of a 750 seat auditorium to be located to the south of the high school, numerous upgrades to the high school, and according to Superintendent Dr. Carl Turner, if bids come back favorable, a new auxiliary gym.
$11 million will be leveraged by the district through 2029 via the one cent sales tax. Voters also approved increasing the district's PPEL levy by $1.17 per $1,000 of taxable valuation to $1.34 until 2026.
Voters in the Cherokee School District also approved a revenue purpose statement measure on Tuesday.
