Superintendent Dave Smith tells KICD News the proper documents for the process should be ready in four to five weeks.
The plans call for three new locker rooms, a new kitchen and multi-purpose room, new weight room, and renovations of the old gym at the high school; a new multi-purpose room at the elementary, and shared kitchen with the elementary and middle school.
Smith says the architect is optimistic good contractors are anxious to bid.
The upgrade of the Spirit Lake school facilities carries an estimated price tag of over 7 million dollars. The school board can sell bonds for the project and pay them back with future proceeds of the one cent sales tax.
