Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--A burglary investigation leads to the discovery of animal skeletal remains.
Storm Lake Police were called to 615 Geneseo Street Saturday morning after a passerby noticed a screen cut and a window partially open on the lower level of the home. Upon entering the residence through an unlocked door Police allege they located a large amount of animal feces and waste throughout the home. While checking the residence police further report they located the skeletal remains of 15 cats throughout the house.

It is alleged that the owner, 42-year-old Dawn Williams of Storm Lake, abandoned the property approximately six months ago locking all of the cats in the residence. It appears the cats ran out of food and started to feed on each other prior to expiring. There were no live animals in the residence.

Williams has been charged with 15 counts of Animal Neglect. She was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $15,000 cash bond.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--An extremely intoxicated Storm lake man is aggressive towards authorities.

Late Sunday evening 36-year-old Lazaro Veliz was allegedly yelling in the 700 block of Lake Avenue. After being arrested Police allege that he attempted to kick out a back window of the police vehicle. One at the Buena Vista County Jail, Veliz reportedly continued to resist and fight with officers. At one point Veliz kicked a police officer.
Veliz was charged with Interference With Official Acts, Disorderly Conduct, Public Intoxication 2nd Offense and Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer. He was held on a $2,300 cash bond.

The officer was not injured.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--Two from Storm Lake are arrested for stealing over $300 in groceries from Wal-Mart.

Storm Lake Police say staff attempted to stop the pair in the parking lot but they entered a white SUV and fled. Police located 27-year-olds Kayleen Leedahl and Duane Wiggins nearby and charged them both with 4th Degree theft.

Police further found a 19-month and 3-year-old child in the vehicle used for the theft. A report has been filed with the Iowa Department of Human Services.

Leedahl and Wiggins were booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and released pending a court date.

Orange City, IA (KICD)--A pair of Orange City men are arrested after a Sioux County Deputy attempts to serve some court documents.

On Friday evening the deputy became aware of possible illegal drug use at an apartment. Upon further investigation 32-year-old Daryl Dailey, Jr. was arrested for 3rd Offense possession of a controlled substance, child endangerment, and possession of drug paraphernalia. 25-year-old William Donovan was also arrested for possession of a controlled substance and child endangerment.

Orange City Police and the Iowa Department of Human Services assisted.

Hospers, IA (KICD)--A traffic stop leads to charges against two Hospers men.

During the stop a Sioux County Deputy determined that 32-year-old Gary Moore's driver’s license was suspended. He was also arrested on a class D felony count of OWI 3rd offense.

The owner of the vehicle Moore was driving, 22-year-old Eric Durband, was arrested for permitting an unauthorized person to operate.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--A drunk driver lands a car into a lakebed.

Shortly after midnight Sunday Storm Lake Police were called to the intersection of West 5th Street and Highway 110 in reference to a report of a vehicle sitting approximately twenty yards from the shore line in the dry bed of the lake. Police determined that 5-year-old Frank Moore of Storm Lake drove off a six foot drop onto the lakebed. Moore and a passenger were uninjured.
Police allege that Moore was intoxicated and arrested him for OWI 2nd offense and Failure to Maintain Control. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $2,300 cash bond.

The vehicle was successfully removed from the lakebed by a tow service with no environmental impact.
