Spencer, IA (KICD)--The Spencer City Council will convene this evening in regular session.
The council will take up moving forward on a REAP Grant Agreement of over $17,000. The project calls for a trail to be constructed in the North School Park consistent with what was done at the Fairview and Deerfield Parks. The grant represents 15 percent of the total cost for the project.
An Economic Development Loan Application for Simonsen Iron Works will be taken up. The company intends to make a $940,000 investment. Under the rules of the IDEA a local match of $40,000 would be required. The City’s portion of the match would be $20,000.
These two items will be discussed in a Progress & Development Committee meeting at 6:00 prior to the 6:30 regular session in the council chambers of Spencer City Hall.
