On Wednesday evening, the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to the 700 block of West 6th Street in reference to a hit and run accident.
Upon arrival, police met with 30-year old Sarah Gore, of Storm Lake, who told police she was traveling westbound on West 6th Street in her 2005 Chrysler Van when another vehicle described as a green Hyundai struck her van head on. The second vehicle then departed the scene. As Gore was speaking with police, the suspect vehicle drove by and was subsequently stopped by police.
Police identified the driver of the hit and run vehicle as 19-yer old Pamila Vongdeuane, of Storm Lake. Police allege that Vongdeuane was intoxicated and in possession of a small amount of marijuana.
Following an investigation police charged Vongdeuane with OWI, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Alcohol, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Driving on the Wrong Side of a Roadway. She was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $2,900.00 cash bond.
Gore's vehicle sustained approximately $400.00 in damage and the Vongdeuane vehicle sustained approximately $200.00 in damage.
No injuries were reported.
