Ames, IA (KICD)--More than $9.7 million in safety improvements are approved for 50 projects by the Iowa Transportation Commission.
Area projects approved for the fiscal year 2014 Traffic Safety Improvement Program are as follows. $412,000 to the city of Algona to Upgrade signals to provide protected left turns for North/South traffic on Highway 169 which would improve turning radii, provide full width right turns on the minor approach & provide a 10' clear zone; $325,000 to widen the shoulder of 130th Street in Dickinson County along with some grading work and correction of the horizontal and vertical curve; $2,425 for the installation of Chevron & Equipment on Curves approximately 4 miles north of Storm Lake on Buena Vista County Road M-44; and $1,860 to the City of Orleans for various upgrades of old and outdated traffic control signs.
Each of the aforementioned projects are fully funded and require no matching funds.
