Highway 20 Portion Opening



Early, IA (KICD)--The long anticipated opening of the four-lane portion of Highway 20 between Sac and Calhoun Counties will occur early next week.

The 2nd longest continuous segment of four-lane highway to open in Iowa since the Interstates were built, will be open in time for Thanksgiving holiday travelers according to the US 20 Association. They say that "the acquisition for expansion of US 20 in Woodbury County between Moville and Correctionville is underway and add that they "look forward to the planned grading for this segment to begin and will be zealous in our efforts to see the final 30 miles added to the DOT Five Year Plan in the near future.”

The new four-lane section extends 26 miles between Highway 4 near Rockwell City and Highway 71 near Early.

A Grand Opening Celebration and Dedication marking the occasion will be held this coming Wednesday at 10:00.
