Spencer, IA: (Oct 24, 2012) - Emergency personnel were called to the CHS Inc. elevator in Tracy, Minnesota Tuesday afternoon after a grain bin collapsed.
No injuries were reported, but work crews have quite a mess to clean up. CHS feed manager Rod Benson says the bin was near its capacity of 62,000 bushels when it collapsed, spilling corn out in all directions.
One employee vehicle was mostly buried with corn; another was swept away in the avalanche of corn, ending up part way through a wall near where semis typically come through to dump grain.
It is the second time in the past three months that an emergency response was needed at the site. An explosion at the elevator in August injured two people.
