Spencer, IA: (Oct 24, 2012) - Pasture conditions in the central U.S. and western corn belt areas remain extremely poor, according to the latest USDA data.
No real relief occurred in the latest week in the central U.S., where pasture ratings remain quite poor.
In Iowa, only 5 percent of the pasture is rated “Good.” Seventy-three percent is rated “poor” or “very poor.”
Eighty percent of the pasture and rangeland in South Dakota and Kansas is rated “poor” or “very poor.”
Nebraska is hardest hit. Ninety-seven percent of the pasture and rangeland there is rated either “poor” or “very poor” – according to this week’s data from USDA.
