FedEx In Spirit Lake



Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)--The first tenant of the East Lake Industrial Park in Spirit Lake is in place.

Iowa Lakes Corridor CEO Kathy Evert tells KICD News the building will be approximately 25,000 square feet and will represent an upgrade over the current FedEx Ground facility on Hudson Avenue.

The facility will be located on approximately 4.5 acres in the park. It will be a small package sorting and distributing center, and will employ up to 30 people.

Spirit Lake Mayor Blain Andera shared his excitement with KICD News.

Site work and construction is underway with plans for the facility to be operational in June of 2013.  This will be a 24/7 operation.

A partnership between the City of Spirit Lake and Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative made the East Lake Industrial Park possible. The development of the first phase of the park includes dirt work and road preparation of 32 acres this fall. Some utility installation and road preparation will be done this fall with the remainder in the spring.
