Shortly before 1:00 p.m. authorities received a a 911 call about a one vehicle rollover accident on Tanager Avenue, south of 120th Street. Tanager Avenue was currently under construction and was closed to thru traffic when a 1997 GMC Jimmy traveling northbound on Tanager Avenue, lost control and went off onto the east shoulder of the roadway. Due to the road construction, the shoulder work was not completed after the new pavement was laid, causing the GMC to roll several times before it came to rest on its side in the east ditch. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene of the accident.
Three Worthington passengers sustained non-incapacitating injuries. 28-year-old Rosa Ramirez and 25-year-old Antonio Ramirez were taken to the Osceola Community Hospital. 34-year-old Alvina Ramos was was taken to the Worthington Sanford Hospital.
None of the passengers in the vehicle knew the driver of the vehicle that fled the scene after the accident. which remains under investigation.
Ocheyedan Fire and Rescue, Ocheyedan Ambulance, and Sibley Ambulance assisted on scene.
Sibley, IA (KICD)--A Minnesota woman is injured in an October 7th mishap in Sibley.
73-year-old Judith Roghair was backing a 2002 Buick Century from a parking spot on 4th Avenue, north of 6th Street and failed to see a pedestrian crossing the street.
The pedestrian, 65-year-old Evelyn Knepper of Welcome, was knocked to the ground and sustained non-incapacitating injuries. Knepper was taken to the Osceola Community Hospital by a private party.
Worthington, MN (KICD)--Strong winds lead to a Nobles County semi rollover.
The Minnesota State Patrol says 64-year-old Stephen Ahlers of Slayton was heading south on the Highway 60 detour south of Worthington shortly after 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The 2006 Peterbilt was loaded with round bales and entering a right curve when strong winds caused the truck to roll over.
Ahlers suffered minor injuries with no hospital visit on record. The Nobles County Sheriff's Office assisted.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--A Storm Lake teen faces drug charges.
On Wednesday morning Storm Lake Police Officer made contact with a person acting in a suspicious manner in the West 9th Street Park. 13-year-old Jose Murillo was subsequently charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was processed and released to a parent pending a court date.
The case has been forwarded to the Juvenile Court Authority.
