Recycling Truck Approved

Spencer, IA (KICD)--The Spencer City Council approves the purchase of an automated recycling truck.

Public Works Director Mark White tells KICD News that the winning bid of $211,841 from McNeilus out of Dodge Center, Minnesota came in nearly $30,000 below estimates.

The city plans to move to automated recycling pick up this April.

White reminds citizens that this project will not lead to any rate increase.

The city must now determine what size and style of container to use for the turnover. It was also noted last evening that the city will investigate moving to automated solid waste pickup sooner than the projected April of 2014 date.
