The Clay County Sheriff's Office says 20-year-old Calvin Pomeroy of Ruthven was heading east on 340th Street in a 1993 Dodge W-250 pickup at 5:15 p.m. when he failed to obey a stop sign at the intersection with 290th Avenue. 35-year-old Jason Greiner of Dickens was traveling northbound and struck Pomeroy in the passenger side with his 2000 Plymouth Grand Voyager.
A pair of Greiner's passengers were injured including a 10-year-old female who was life flighted to Sioux Falls and treated for incapacitating injuries. 30-year-old Jennifer Mills of Dickens sustained minor injuries.
Pomeroy was placed under arrest for driving with a suspended license and cited for failure to obey a stop sign.
Royal, IA (KICD)--A one car rollover lands a Sioux Rapids teen in the hospital.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office says 17-year-old Samantha Snavely was heading north in the 4100 mile of Highway 71 shortly after 3:30 last Friday. Her 2006 Pontiac G-6 hit the east shoulder at which time Snavely overcorrected as she re-entered the highway and lost control. The car spun approximately 180 degrees and it entered the east ditch and rolled approximately twice before coming to a rest facing southeast.
Snavely was taken to Spencer Hospital by their ambulance crew with possible injuries. She was cited for failure to maintain control.
Royal Fire and Rescue assisted on scene.
Spencer, IA (KICD)--An Algona woman runs her car into the landscaping of the Clay County Heritage Center.
At 12:35 Wednesday afternoon Spencer Police were called to the scene to find a 2003 Dodge Neon facing west with the left front of the car wedged on top of a large landscaping rock. 59-Year-Old Marina McNeill also ran over some trees and a small tree sampling.
McNeill says she was turning left onto West Park Street from Grand Avenue when she accelerated to avoid an oncoming car and ended up in the landscaping. The damage estimate came to $250. No injuries were reported.
Emmetsburg, IA (KICD) -- An Algona woman is arrested after breaking into a vehicle.
The Palo Alto County Sheriffs Office received the report of a vehicle broken into in the 5600 block of 400th Street. Following an investigation, officers arrested Margaret McCall, on charges of Burglary, and Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia.
She was taken to the Palo Alto County Jail, waiting for an initial appearance before the magistrate.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--Storm Lake Police, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office and Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement work to make a pair of felony drug arrests.
It is alleged that 54-year-old Maria Cardenas of Storm Lake sold meth to an informant on two occasions this month. Following a consent search Wednesday of Cardenas' home Police reportedly located and seized multiple baggies of crystal methamphetamine packaged for street sales.
Cardenas was subsequently charged 2 counts of Delivery of Methamphetamine and 1 count of Possession of Methamphetamine With Intent to Deliver - all class C felonies. She was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $150,000 cash bond.
Then on Wednesday evening Police pulled over 35-year-old Veilia Monsivais-Cruz of Cherokee, who police allege had arranged to deliver methamphetamine in Storm Lake with a police informant. During the stop authorities located and seized multiple baggies of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia used to ingest methamphetamine.
Following an investigation Storm Lake Police charged Monsivais-Crus with Possession of Methamphetamine With the Intent to Deliver and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was booked into the county jail on a $50,300 cash bond.
An additional bag of meth was seized from the home of Monsivais-Crus early this (Thursday) morning.
