Japan Beef Imports In August Skyrocket



Spencer, IA: (Oct 09, 2012) - A cattle industry website says Japan imported 16,775 tons of beef from the U.S. during August, an increase of 33 percent compared to August one year ago. Around half of the volume for the month consisted of shoulder and round cuts.
 
Japan’s beef imports from Australia were also up in August, about 12 percent higher than one year ago. About 57 percent of Japan’s total beef imports come from Australia.
 
Japan expects beef imports for September and October to be similar to, or slightly below one year ago.
