The Iowa State Patrol says the accident occurred Sunday afternoon around 1:30, three miles northeast of Marcus.
A 2001 Sterling truck-trailer unit , driven by 22-year old Zachary Hatterman of Paullina, was northbound on E Avenue. A 2000 Chevy, driven by 23-year old Jeffrey Brady of Marcus was eastbound on 430th Street, when he struck the trailer.
Brady was injured in the crash, and was lifeflighted to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, with undisclosed injuries. Hatterman was not injured in the mishap.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing. Marcus ambulance assisted at the scene.
Sioux Center (KICD)--Two are hospitalized in a car versus pickup mishap Friday afternoon.
The Sioux County Sheriff's office says 21-year-old Herman Hofman of Sioux Center was driving a 1995 Toyota Camry eastbound on 380th Street; he then stopped for the stop sign at Hickory Avenue shortly before 4:00. At this time 69-year-old Hester De Jongh of Hull was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup northbound on Hickory Avenue.
As Hofman proceeded eastbound into the intersection, he collided with De Jongh. Both vehicles entered the northeast ditch where the truck rolled. Hofman became trapped in his vehicle and required extrication by emergency services.
Hofman and De Jongh were both transported to the Sioux Center Hospital by the Sioux Center Ambulance for treatment of their injuries. Hofman was cited for failure to obey stop sign.
Sioux Center Fire and Ambulance assisted.
Hull, IA (KICD)--A Boyden man is injured following an early Saturday morning mishap.
The Sioux County Sheriff says 20-year-old Oscar Gonzalez-Arcos was driving a 1977 Buick Le Sabre eastbound on Highway 18 at 4:15 one mile easy of Hull. 31-year-old Jonathon Wulf of Shell Rock was driving a 2004 Peterbuilt semi-tractor pulling a livestock trailer westbound on Highway 18. Gonzalez-Arcos drifted into the westbound lane and collided with the driver’s side dual wheels of the Peterbuilt.
Gonzalez was taken to Sanford Hospital in Sheldon by Hull Ambulance and was later flown by helicopter to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Sheldon Police and Hull Firefighters assisted on scene.
Graettinger, IA (KICD)--Palo Alto County Deputies are called to The Lodge Bar in Graettinger on Saturday.
While investigating an altercation 29-year-old Matthew Davis of Graettinger was arrested for disorderly conduct. During the arrest 27-year-old Amanda Henderson of Estherville assaulted the Deputy.
After taking Henderson to Palo Alto County Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the original altercation she was arrested for assault on a peace officer.
Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--A Storm Lake woman is jailed following an early Saturday morning incident.
An on patrol Storm Lake Police Officer observed an assault in progress in front of Malarky’s Night Club around 1:40 a.m. 25-year-old Melinda Navejar allegedly fled after authorities made contact and was caught near the St. Mary’s Ball Fields. At this time police allege Navejar struck the officer and resisted arrest at which time she was subdued by police.
Navejar was charged with Public Intoxication, Interference With Official Acts, Assault, Disorderly Conduct and Assault on a Police Officer. She was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $2,500 cash bond.
The Buena Vista County Sheriff's Office assisted.
Orange City, IA (KICD)--A Sheldon man will spend five years in prison on identity theft and forgery charges.
Sioux County Attorney Coleman J. McAllister says 39-year-old Juan Ozuna-Contreras was sentenced on Friday in Sioux County District Court on once count of identity theft and three counts of forgery, all of the charges are class D felonies.
This case arose on January 24th when a federal ICE agent went to Golden Crisp in Sioux Center to investigate a tip that a person was working at Golden Crisp under an assumed name using fraudulent or fictitious documents. The tipster also supplied the Special Agent with a vehicle description and license plate number of the suspect’s car. The Special Agent saw the suspect walk out of Golden Crisp and get into his car with two other men, one of whom was later identified as Contreras. All three men were ultimately arrested on immigration violations.
