Sibley. IA (KICD)--A Kansas man is injured following a Sunday evening mishap.
The Osceola County Sheriff's Office says 34-year-old Daniel Burns of Salina was driving a 2007 International semi and trailer, northbound on Highway 60 at 11:51 p.m.  He swerved to miss some deer on the road, entered the median and ran over the emergency turnaround embankment south of Olive Avenue. The semi and trailer went airborne for approximately 30 feet and then continued across the median before coming to rest in the southbound lane of 60, blocking traffic and leaking diesel fuel from the semi tank.

Burns sustained incapacitating injuries and was taken to the Osceola Community Hospital by Sibley Ambulance.

Sibley Fire and Rescue, the Iowa DOT, and Iowa DNR assisted on scene.

Lake Park, IA (KICD)--A Harris teen is injured in a one car mishap west of Lake Park on Monday.

The Dickinson County Sheriff's Office says shortly after 5:30 p.m. 16-year-old Javier Tapia was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Prism westbound on County Road A-18.  An animal ran in front of Tapia who served and lost control.  The car then entered the south ditch and rolled.

Tapia was taken to Lakes Regional Healthcare by their Ambulance with incapacitating injuries.

Those assisting on scene include Lake Park Fire and Rescue and Jennings Tow & Repair of Spirit Lake.

Sibley, IA (KICD) -- A Sibley woman is injured after falling asleep while driving.

   The Osceola County SHeriffs Office says the accident occurred just before 5-am Tuesday, as 43-year old Jackalyne Hieronimus was driving a 2002 Ford Escort westbound on Highway 9, east of Nettle Avenue.

   Hieronimus fell asleep and went off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle, which then struck a guardrail and entered the south ditch, running over a field fence before coming to rest facing northbound.

    Hieronimus sustained incapacitating injuries and was taken to the Osceola Community Hospital. The Escort sustained approximately $5,000 damage.  The guardrail, owned by the Iowa Department of Transportation, sustained approximately $3,500 damage.   

   The field fence sustained approximately $50 damage. Hieronimus was given a citation for Failure to Maintain Control.

   Sibley Fire and Rescue and Sibley Ambulance assisted at the scene.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD) -- Reports from citizen's lead to the arrest of 6 for unlawful solicitation.

   Storm Lake Police received information from citizens Monday, about a group of people possibly in town conducting door to door sales without a solicitor's license.

  Around 3-pm, Storm Lake Police stopped a van at the intersection of Lake Avenue and East 6th Street, with four occupants.  It's alleged all were involved in the soliciting.  Officers then seized documents, checks and cash from the illegal sales from the occupants.

Jackson, MN (KICD)--One person is injured after a semi loaded with hogs overturns Monday morning in Jackson County.

The Minnesota State Patrol says 27-year-old Matthew Lentsch of Stewart was heading south on Highway 86, six miles north of the state line, in a 1998 Peterbilt Semi with 160 hogs in a trailer.  Lentsch lost control and went off road to the right rolling the semi onto its side.  20 hogs were killed.

Lentsch suffered minor injuries although no hospital visit was recorded.

Storm Lake, IA (KICD)--Storm Lake Police are called to an apartment assault Monday evening.

It is alleged that 30-year-old Francis Chang of Omaha assaulted another man during an argument by striking him in the face and then biting the victim on the arm, chest and neck. The victim reportedly bit the suspect back in defending himself from the alleged attacker.
Police arrested Chang at the scene. He was transported by police to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center where he was treated for minor injuries sustained in the fight. He was then transferred by police to the Buena Vista County Jail where Storm Lake Police charged him with Assault Causing Injury and Disorderly Conduct. He was booked into the county jail on a $1,300 cash bond.
