CCF Recycling Record



Spencer, IA (KICD)--The Clay County Fair set a recycling record in 2012 with 4.6 tons of cardboard and plastics diverted from local landfills.

The Fair nearly doubled the amount of recyclables from 2011 as 2.1 tons of plastics and 2.5 tons of cardboard were collected, compared to 1.05 tons of plastics and 1.64 tons of cardboard in 2011.
Included in the plastics number were more than 11,800 bottles and cans that were donated to Sunshine Services in Spencer.
The recycling program was a joint effort of the Fair, the City of Spencer, Eaton Corporation, Positively Spencer Youth, Iowa Lakes Community College and the Iowa DNR.
