Spencer, IA (KICD) -- A Spencer man receives minor injuries and is charged after a two vehicle accident.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office says 54-year old Brad Burginger was driving a 1995 Mercury Sable eastbound on Highway 18, and attempted to make a left turn into a residence at 2520 Highway 18.
Burginger failed to yield to a westbound 1999 Chevy K-3500 truck, driven by 19-year old Micah Partlow of Spencer. The pickup then struck the Mercury in the passenger side. As a result, the Mercury spun around, coming to rest on the north shoulder facing south, while the pickup came to rest facing east on the north shoulder.
Burginger was treated at the scene by Spencer Ambulance and released. He was cited for Failure To Yield Upon Making a Left Turn and No Proof Of Insurance.
Assisting at the scene was Spencer Fire and Rescue, and Dickens Fire and Rescue
Ocheyedan, IA (KICD)--An Emmetsburg man is injured after falling asleep at the wheel Thursday morning.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says 60-year-old Randall Hanson was heading east on Highway 9 at 6:00 in a 2006 Ford Ranger when he fell asleep and entered the south ditch. Hanson’s vehicle exited the south ditch, crossed over Highway 9 and then entered the north ditch where the vehicle came to rest on the passenger side.
Hanson was taken to the Osceola Community Hospital by Ocheyedan Ambulance with possible injuries. He was cited for failure to maintain control.
Sibley, IA (KICD)--Information from a September 14th accident has been released by the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.
Shortly before 4:00 p.m. 17-year-old Dustin Taylor of Sibley was driving a 1998 Dodge pickup, eastbound on 5th Street, approaching the intersection of 4th Avenue in Sibley. 55-year-old Kay Prins of Sibley was driving a 2005 Ford Focus northbound on 4th Avenue, and stopped at the intersection of 5th Street. She did not see Taylor’s vehicle approaching before proceeding through the intersection and colliding with Taylor on the roadway.
Prins was taken to the Osceola Community Hospital by Sibley Ambulance with non-incapacitating injuries. He was cited for Failure to Yield upon Entering through Highway.
Maurice, IA (KICD)--A Maurice man faces multiple charges after attempting to flee from an early Thursday evening traffic stop.
When a Sioux County Deputy attempted to pull over 27-year-old Jose Murillo he continued driving until reaching a residence driveway east of Maurice. During the traffic stop the deputy discovered Murrillo’s driver’s license was suspended. Murillo was arrested for eluding law enforcement and driving while suspended.
