Ames Ag Company Acquired By BASF



Spencer, IA: (Sep 21, 2012) - An Iowa ag company has been acquired by German chemicals company BASF for just over $1 billion dollars.
 
Becker Underwood of Ames is a crop-technology company that was founded in 1982.
 
BASF will acquire the company from private-equity company Norwest Equity Partners, which has owned the seed-treatment company since 2004.
 
Becker-Underwood is expected to generate $240 million in annual sales this year. The deal is expected to close at the end of the year.
