Fonda, IA (KICD)--A Monday morning school bus mishap takes place in Pocahontas County.
The Iowa State Patrol says a school bus was stopped on Highway 7, three miles west of Fonda, for a train at 7:36 a.m.. The approaching driver, 26-year-old Shalee Stuart of Pomeroy, did not immediately see the bus and took evasive action with her 1999 Chevy Malibu. Stuart swerved to the right but sill struck the right rear of the bus causing sever front end damage to her car.
Stuart received a couple of small cuts from flying glass from her windshield.
George, IA (KICD)--A Sibley man is taken to the hospital following an early Friday morning mishap.
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office says 19-year-old Nicholas Larsen was heading south in the 2000 block of McKinley Avenue at approximately 6:45 in a 2004 Dodge Durango. Larsen stated he fell asleep, started to enter the west ditch, woke up, over corrected, losing control and then entered the east ditch striking a culvert.
Larsen was transported to the Sibley Hospital by the Lyon County Ambulance to be checked for possible injuries. George Fire and Rescue assisted on scene.
Sioux Center, IA (KICD)--Three face drug charges following a text-a-tip to the Sioux County Sheriff's Office.
A text report of a suspicious vehicle that parked at the intersection of 420th Street and Harrison Avenue, three miles southeast of Sioux Center, came in shortly before 1:00 Friday morning. Following a traffic stop and investigation 21-year-old Cesar Gomez Quintanilla of Sioux center and Katy Landwier of Newton were arrested for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. 20-year-old Caleb Waldecker was arrested for operating while intoxicated-drugged, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
The Sioux County Drug Recognition Expert and Sioux Center Police assisted.
